Do starfish have eyes? What does a crab feel like? What lies hidden beneath the surface just off the coast of Helsingør? And do you dare to get up close to some of the Øresund’s marine creatures? During the autumn half-term holidays, the Øresund Aquarium invites the whole family in to enjoy feeding sessions, live marine creatures, a water laboratory, quizzes and plenty of experiences exploring life in the Øresund.

The autumn break at the Øresund Aquarium offers experiences for sea lovers of all ages. Every day, visitors can meet some of the Øresund’s fascinating inhabitants, hear exciting stories about life beneath the surface and even join in when it’s time to feed the animals.

Join us for feeding time

Feeding takes place every hour on the hour in selected tanks. During the sessions, the Øresund Aquarium’s educational guides share amusing stories and fascinating facts about the animals and life in the Øresund.

The first feeding of the day begins at 11.00 am by the small touch pool, where visitors can help feed the animals themselves.

Experience life in the Øresund with your own hands

What do the animals from the Øresund actually feel like?

At 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm, the aquarium’s guides take guests behind the scenes. Here, children and adults can get up close, see and touch various living sea creatures, and hear about their curious lives and fascinating adaptations to life beneath the surface.

Places are limited, so remember to sign up on the register at the ticket office if you’d like to join in.

What sea creature is hiding in your imagination?

Does it have three fins, huge eyes or scales in all the colours of the rainbow? At Kreatoriet, your imagination can swim freely.

For our creative workshops, we’ll get out the glue, scissors, card and loads of decorations, and create brand new, colourful fish species together.

Creative workshops

  • Thursday 15 October, 11.15 am–2.00 pm
  • Friday 16 October, 11.15 am–2.00 pm

More creativity throughout the autumn half-term

Let your imagination run wild in the Kreatoriet.

Kreatoriet is open every day from 10.00 to 16.00, when visitors to the aquarium can draw and colour in their own unique sea creatures.

Visit the Water Laboratory

At 11.30 and 15.30, the Water Laboratory opens its doors. Here, the whole family can explore with the aquarium’s guides, see the animals up close and help to feed them.

The activity is open to everyone and requires no booking.

Would you like to experience even more? Come along on a trip out onto the Øresund

For families who’d like to round off their visit to the aquarium with a trip out on the water, there’s also the option of joining the Øresund Aquarium’s porpoise and seal safari.

The trip takes you out onto the Øresund in a RIB boat, where the aquarium’s guides keep an eye out for porpoises and seals and tell you about the animals and the unique marine environment along the way.

And there might be an extra surprise in store. At this time of year, there may still be a chance to catch a glimpse of the great Atlantic bluefin tuna before its stay in the Øresund draws to a close.

In the Øresund, you never quite know what might surface.

Safaris must be booked separately. Read more here
