Easter at the Øresund Aquarium: Eggs, sea creatures and family activities
The Easter holidays are all about eggs at the Øresund Aquarium, where we invite the whole family to a range of fun and educational activities focusing on eggs and reproduction in the fascinating wildlife of the Øresund. Visitors can look forward to feeding sessions, quizzes, a creative workshop and plenty of information about life beneath the surface.
Fish eggs – not what you might think
Did you know that fish eggs are completely different from the eggs we’re familiar with from birds? During the Easter holidays, you can visit the Øresund Aquarium and learn more about the sea’s many fascinating species and their remarkable life cycles.
"Easter is a fantastic opportunity to delve into some of the sea’s most fascinating life cycles. Many people are surprised by just how different fish eggs can be, and how much life lies hidden just beneath the surface. We look forward to giving visitors a closer experience of the Øresund’s wildlife – and to seeing both children and adults become curious and ask questions,” says Catharina Marcussen, an educator at the Øresund Aquarium.
Feeding the fish in the aquarium
Every hour on the hour during the Easter holidays, you can watch feeding sessions in selected aquariums. Here, the aquarium’s guides will share fun and fascinating facts about fish and other marine creatures from the Øresund.
The first feeding takes place at 11.00 am at our three-stage touch pool, where visitors can also help feed the animals themselves.
Feeding in the Water Laboratory
Summer is approaching, which means that activities at the Water Laboratory are getting underway.
During the Easter holidays, at 12.30 pm and 3.30 pm, you can join our guides out at the Water Laboratory and help feed the animals – including flatfish and sawfish.
You can also try out our underwater binoculars and get a unique glimpse of the fascinating wildlife beneath the surface.
Touch live sea creatures
Join our guides behind the scenes. Here you can touch various sea creatures and hear fascinating stories about their lives.
Times: 11.30 am and 2.30 pm.
Get creative at the 'Creatorium' ('Kreatoriet')
From egg to fish
Visit 'Kreatoriet' and transform an Easter egg into your very own imaginative fish. Using glue, scissors, paper, beads, sequins and much more, we’ll create new, colourful species together.
Creative workshops:
- Saturday 28 March, 11.15–13.15
- Saturday 4 April, 11.15 am–1.15 pm
Kreatoriet open throughout Easter
Throughout the Easter holidays, you can also draw and colour your own strange sea creatures. Kreatoriet is open to aquarium visitors every day from 10 am to 4 pm.
Find Easter eggs and take part in the Øresund quiz
The Easter Bunny has been here and hidden eggs in the aquariums. Find the eggs and use them to help you solve the Øresund quiz, which is available at the ticket office.
