The comeback of the tuna – a story about the giants of the sea and their journey back.

Come and hear the exciting lecture on ‘The tuna – iconic fish back in Danish waters’ when Professor Brian MacKenzie from DTU Aqua visits the aquarium once again.

In this lecture, Professor Brian MacKenzie will enlighten us about the return of the Atlantic tuna (Thunnus thynnus) and its movements in both Danish and international waters. The tuna has made a remarkable comeback to the Øresund after more than 50 years of absence.

The Atlantic tuna is one of the largest and fastest fish in the sea and also one of the world's most iconic and sought-after fish. Previously, the distribution of tuna was a mystery, but the development of advanced electronic fish tags has provided exciting results about the movements of tuna. The lecture will cover the distribution and habitats of Atlantic tuna and suggest reasons for its return. During the lecture, Brian will also present the results of the latest research on tuna in Denmark.

The lecture will be held in English.
