Porpoise safari

Do you want to see Denmark’s small whale – the harbour porpoise – in its natural habitat? Then join the Øresund Aquarium on a porpoise safari and get close to the small whale, which are thriving, in Øresund.

The Øresund Aquarium’s big RIB boat departs from Helsinore and when it has passed the Castle of Kronborg we sail toward the area off Hornbæk Plantage, which is a porpoise habitat. We are joined by competent guides from the Øresund Aquarium who will tell stories about the fascinating little whale, which is becoming quite a common sight in the Sound.

For the last 20-30 years, the number of porpoises has grown a lot and they thrive in Øresund where there are plenty of food for the whales. On the trips we made in 2020 we saw porpoises on most of the safari trips. We cannot promise that we will see porpoises but the possibilities are great.
